On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at approximately 2:20 PM, a car caught fire on Avenida LuĂs de Camões in Funchal, near a local supermarket. The Funchal Fire Brigade was swiftly mobilized, deploying 11 personnel with three fire engines. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished before their arrival, preventing further damage.
Meanwhile, on Friday, June 26, 2026, the Funchal firefighters were also called to an accident involving a motorcycle and a car on Rua 31 de Janeiro, close to a driving school. A 33-year-old man sustained injuries in this incident, suffering abrasions to his elbow and leg. He was promptly attended to and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further care.
Additionally, another significant incident occurred in Gaula, Santa Cruz, on June 24, 2026. A vehicle overturned on Estrada Padre Alfredo Vieira de Freitas. The driver, a 76-year-old man, managed to exit the vehicle on his own but complained of back pain.
