Three things for your lobby, free

You create a screen here in about a minute and get a six-character code and three links: a board for the television in the lobby, three A4 sides for the front desk, and a flight over the island that loops all day with today's numbers on it. No account, no app, nothing to pay.

Start with the flight

Just over two minutes over Madeira, drawn in 3D in the browser and filled in from today's readings: the air temperature town by town all the way round the coast as it stands now, the sea and the tide at Funchal, the beaches, the summit above the clouds, the cable car, and the cruise ships in port on the days there are any. Your name and today's date stand in the top corner the whole way.

What you get, and where each piece goes

A board for the lobby television

Four views that change themselves every twenty-five seconds: today's warnings, the wind gusts, the waves on each coast, the sea temperature, sunrise and sunset; the cloud over Pico do Arieiro and the best morning this week to drive up for it; how many of the official trails are open and which are not; the cruise ships in Funchal today and what is on in town.

A television, a tablet or an old laptop with a browser. Open the link once and leave it. It refreshes itself all day, keeps the last readings on screen when the wifi drops and says how old they are, and picks up new code without anyone touching it. Your name is in the header, and a code in the corner takes a guest to the same numbers on their own phone.

Three A4 sides for the front desk

Today's conditions on the first side; a map of the beaches and a map of the temperature around the island on the second; the week on the third — the trails, the summit mornings, the tide. Every card carries the address it came from and a code to scan.

The desk printer, best done fresh each morning. It prints as it is: nothing to set up, your name and the date already on it.

The flight, for a screen or your own website

The same film as above, looping all day with the readings of that day on it. Put it on the screen behind reception, in the bar or in the breakfast room, or drop the address into a frame on your own site.

It is an ordinary web address with your code in it. Open it full screen and it fills the panel; there is nothing to log into and nothing to renew.

What it costs you to set up

One field for your name, then the language your guests read and the colours of the screen. Press the button and the code and the three links are on the next page.

What it needs

A screen with a browser on it: a smart television, a tablet, or an old laptop on an HDMI cable.
A socket, and wifi that stays on. If the connection drops, the board holds the last readings and says when they are from.
Nothing from us — no box, no cable, no visit, no software.

The one thing it cannot do is switch the television on. If your set can open a page at power-on, point it at the link; otherwise leave it running.
