The Madeira government has received two proposals for consultancy services to aid in the management of the new Hospital Central e Universitário da Madeira, marking a significant step in its development.

The development of the new Hospital Central e Universitário da Madeira (HCUM) is progressing as two consultancy proposals have been submitted. This follows a public tender initiated by the Secretaria Regional de Equipamentos e Infraestruturas in March. These proposals aim to provide specialized management consultancy for the hospital's operational needs.

The companies competing for the contract are CONSULGAL, Consultores de Engenharia e Gestão, S.A., and a consortium consisting of Remeditec – Importação e Comercialização de Equipamentos de Saúde, S.A. and Quadrante – Engenharia e Consultoria, S.A. The consultancy services are essential to ensure the hospital meets its technical, functional, and organizational requirements.

With a base value of €2,916,235 plus VAT, the tender will undergo an evaluation phase. The proposals will be assessed by a jury that will rank them and may exclude any that do not meet legal or tender specifications. The consultancy services are scheduled to begin following approval from the Tribunal de Contas, initially set for 42 months with possible extensions.

This initiative is a strategic investment aimed at enhancing the Madeira Regional Health Service's capacity to deliver efficient healthcare services. The new hospital will play a pivotal role in improving healthcare infrastructure on the island, benefiting both residents and tourists.

The project underscores Madeira's commitment to expanding its healthcare capabilities, ensuring residents have access to advanced medical facilities. It also highlights the significant role of consultancy in navigating the complexities involved in managing a major healthcare institution.
