On April 13th, 2026, the Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to Rua da Carne Azeda in Funchal following reports of an assault. A man in his 60s suffered facial injuries and was subsequently transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for medical attention.
Deaths in Machico, Câmara de Lobos, and São João
The same day, the Municipal Firefighters of Machico responded to a distressing situation on Estrada Dom Manuel I, where an elderly man in his 80s was found deceased in a residence. Despite the swift response, nothing could be done to revive him.
In Câmara de Lobos, a woman in her 80s was found dead at her home on April 12th, 2026. The Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters confirmed that she had passed away before they arrived, leaving the community in mourning.
Additionally, on the night of April 12th, a man in his 80s suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in SĂŁo JoĂŁo, Funchal. Despite efforts from the Emergency Medical Intervention Team (EMIR) and the Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters, the man could not be resuscitated.
