Yellow warnings also cover the north coast and Porto Santo, and IPMA expects clear spells over the island in the afternoon after a wet morning.

The south coast and the mountain regions of Madeira are under an orange warning from 00:00 to 09:00 on Sunday, according to DN Madeira. The Portuguese weather institute IPMA forecasts showers that will be heavy at times on the south side and in the high ground, especially until the end of the morning, and they may come with thunderstorms.

The north coast is under a yellow warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms until 12:00. On Porto Santo, IPMA issued a yellow warning for the same reason between 06:00 and 15:00, DN Madeira reports.

Skies will be very cloudy, with clear spells from the afternoon. Funchal can expect the same pattern, with showers that are heavy at times until the end of the morning and possible thunderstorms.

The wind will be light to moderate from the south, at 10 to 30 km/h, reaching 40 km/h in the high ground, especially in the morning.

On the north coast, waves from the northwest will reach 2 to 2.5 metres, easing to 1.5 to 2 metres in the afternoon. On the south coast, waves from the west and southwest will be 1 to 1.5 metres. The sea temperature will be around 22 to 23 degrees.
