Funchal opens entries for its Christmas shop-window contest
Madeira GuideShops in Funchal have until 30 November 2026 to enter the city's Christmas window contest, which pays 3,500 euros in prizes, including one for sustainable decorations.
Funchal City Council has opened entries for this year's edition of its Christmas shop-window contest, Montras de Natal do Funchal. Shops in the city are asked to decorate their windows and facades for Christmas.
The council runs the contest with the Commercial and Industrial Association of Funchal, the Madeira Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Entries close on 30 November 2026.
The prizes total 3,500 euros. First place wins 1,000 euros, second 800 euros, third 600 euros, fourth 400 euros and fifth 200 euros.
As in previous editions, a Sustainable Window prize of 500 euros goes to the decoration that makes the most creative use of reusable and natural materials and carries an environmental message. The jury looks at originality, creativity, aesthetic quality and the message of each display.
