On the afternoon of April 13, 2026, the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses were called to Rua da Carne Azeda, Funchal, where a man in his 60s was violently assaulted. The victim sustained facial injuries and was promptly taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment.
Multiple Deaths Reported
Tragically, three deaths were reported in separate incidents. On April 12, 2026, a man in his 80s suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in São João, Funchal, despite rescue efforts by EMIR and local firefighters. The same day, a man aged between 40 and 50 was found deceased in a stream in Machico, leading to a police investigation.
Also on April 12, a woman in her 80s was discovered dead at her residence in Ribeira da Alforra, Câmara de Lobos. In both cases, emergency services concluded that nothing could be done to save the individuals.
