Traffic on the VE2 road between São Vicente and Seixal will be restricted on August 5, 2026, due to essential slope maintenance works.

The VE2 road, which connects São Vicente to Seixal on Madeira Island, will experience traffic restrictions on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. This is due to necessary slope maintenance and cleaning operations aimed at ensuring road safety and preventing potential landslides.

The maintenance work is scheduled to take place between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM, affecting the stretch between kilometers 3.3 and 3.4. The operations will be carried out by a specialized team known as "rocheiros" from the Direcção Regional de Estradas (DRE), ensuring that the slope overlooking the road is stable.

During this period, traffic will either be conditioned or temporarily closed, depending on the specific requirements of the maintenance work. The ViaExpresso road concessionaire has advised motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes if necessary.

Such maintenance work is crucial for the safety and reliability of Madeira’s road network, especially in areas prone to geological instability. Residents and tourists alike are encouraged to stay informed about these developments to avoid inconvenience.
