The vibrant Summer Opening Festival marks its 12th edition this year, kicking off today at the scenic Parque de Santa Catarina in Funchal, Madeira. With more than 18,000 tickets already sold, the festival is poised to be the largest in its history, drawing both locals and tourists to enjoy a diverse lineup of musical acts.
Running from today until Saturday, the festival's first day features performances by artists like Orochi, Danni Gato, MC Jacaré, and Corvo. This event promises an eclectic mix of music genres, catering to a wide audience and setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.
Simultaneously, the Parque de Santa Catarina transforms into a cultural hub as it hosts the Concert Commemorating the Day of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Scheduled to begin at 9 PM, this concert is a tribute to the island's rich cultural heritage and its global diaspora, featuring the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira.
Under the artistic direction of Norberto Gomes and the musical direction of Maestro LuĂs Andrade, the concert will showcase performances by the Lithuanian soprano Viktorija MiškĹ«naitÄ—, local tenor Alberto Sousa, and students from the ConservatĂłrio – Escola das Artes da Madeira. The repertoire includes iconic works by Verdi, Morricone, and Lloyd Webber.
