Assault in Funchal
On April 13, 2026, the Voluntary Firefighters of Madeira were dispatched to Rua da Carne Azeda in Funchal, where a man in his 60s suffered facial injuries due to an assault. He was promptly taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment.
Fatal Incidents Across the Island
Earlier, on the same day, the Municipal Firefighters of Machico responded to a call at Estrada Dom Manuel I, where an elderly man in his 80s was found deceased in his home. Unfortunately, resuscitation efforts were not successful.
On April 12, 2026, the body of a woman in her 80s was discovered in a residence in Ribeira da Alforra, Câmara de Lobos. Despite immediate response, nothing could be done to revive her.
Another tragic discovery was made in Machico at the site of Piquinho, where the body of a man aged between 40 and 50 was found in a stream, with his head submerged in water. This incident prompted police investigation.
Medical Emergencies
Additionally, on the night of April 11, 2026, emergency services were alerted to a cardiac arrest incident in São João, Funchal. Despite the efforts of the EMIR and Voluntary Firefighters of Madeira, the 80-year-old man could not be revived.
