On April 16, 2026, a young motorcyclist was injured in an accident on the Airport Road before the Inspection Center. The 25-year-old sustained abrasions on his arms and legs and was quickly transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses.
Assault in Funchal's Old Town
Later the same day, a 31-year-old Moroccan man was assaulted on Rua Dom Carlos I in Funchal's historic Zona Velha. Suffering from chest pains, he too was taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further care.
