Young Motorcyclist Injured in Câmara de Lobos
On the evening of April 30, 2026, a young motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car on Estrada João Gonçalves Zarco in Câmara de Lobos. The 21-year-old sustained minor injuries and was promptly attended to by the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters who transported him to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for further treatment.
Elderly Man Injured in Fall at Bairro da Ajuda
Earlier that day, in the gardens of Bairro da Ajuda, Funchal, a man in his 70s suffered a fall from a height of two meters. The incident resulted in a clavicle injury and a head wound. Prompt action by the Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters ensured the man was stabilized and transported to the hospital for further care.
Electrical Fire in Funchal
In a separate incident on April 29, an electrical fire broke out in cables at Caminho das Voltas, Funchal, close to a church. The Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters responded swiftly with five personnel and a heavy vehicle to manage and extinguish the fire, preventing any further damage.
Cardiac Arrest in Funchal
On April 28, emergency services were called to Travessa dos Reis in Funchal where a man experienced a cardiac arrest. Due to the quick response of the EMIR and Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters, the man was successfully resuscitated and taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
