Santa Cruz to Expand Police Station with New Agreement
Santa Cruz, along with internal administration and public security authorities, plans to commence the expansion of its police station this year under a renewed cooperation agreement.
In a significant development for the municipality of Santa Cruz, local authorities, along with the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration and the Public Security Police (PSP), have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the local police station. This initiative is part of a broader inter-administrative cooperation agreement signed in November 2023.
The decision to move forward with the project was confirmed during a visit by LuĂs Neves, the Minister of Internal Administration, to the Santa Cruz Firefighters' Headquarters. This visit underscored the importance of enhancing local security infrastructure to better serve the community and the increasing number of tourists visiting Madeira.
The planned expansion aims to rehabilitate, adapt, and enlarge the current police facilities. Such an upgrade is deemed essential to accommodate the growing needs of Santa Cruz's population and ensure efficient law enforcement operations.
Santa Cruz, known for its scenic beauty and cultural attractions, is a key area on the island, making the improvement of its public services a priority. This project is expected to commence by the end of the year, marking a significant step in enhancing the region's security framework.
