The Santa Cruz municipality on Madeira Island has taken significant steps to enhance beach safety for the upcoming summer season. This year, the local government has expanded the monitored beach areas, aiming to ensure the safety and enjoyment of both residents and tourists.
This initiative includes the installation of an additional lifeguard post at Praia de São Fernando, located in front of the Hotel Vila Galé. This expansion complements the existing safety measures at Praia das Palmeiras and Praia dos Reis Magos, two popular beaches frequented by visitors.
The enhancement is part of the Integrated Beach Assistance Plan, which represents a financial commitment of €90,000. This increased investment underscores the importance placed on beach safety, particularly during the busy tourist season.
In an exciting development for locals and tourists alike, the new Praia das Palmeiras is set to be inaugurated this Friday, June 19. The opening will coincide with the hoisting of the Blue Flag, a prestigious award given to beaches that meet high standards of water quality, safety, and environmental management.
