Recent Accidents in Madeira Raise Safety Concerns

Just two days earlier, on August 5, another industrial accident occurred in the same area. A 47-year-old man was hit on the head by a pallet, resulting in head injuries. He too was taken to the hospital after the incident.

In addition to workplace incidents, road safety has also come under scrutiny. On August 7, a woman in her 50s was injured in a car accident in the tunnel of Viveiros, on the expressway between Funchal and Caniço. She reported chest pains and was taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
