The Rally da Madeira 2026 has begun with a flurry of activity, as administrative and technical checks take center stage before the drivers hit the road. The event, now in its 67th edition, continues to captivate both locals and tourists alike.

Administrative and Technical Checks

Starting at 14:00 on July 29th, the mandatory administrative checks were conducted at the Praça CR7, ensuring all necessary documentation was in order for the competitors. This process is essential for verifying participant eligibility and compliance with rally regulations.

Concurrently, technical checks are being carried out at Cais 6 of the Porto do Funchal. These checks ensure that the vehicles meet all safety and performance standards, as well as conform to their homologation certificates. The checks are scheduled to conclude by 19:00.

Excitement Builds for the Shakedown

On July 30th, 40 drivers will participate in the Shakedown at Água de Pena, from 08:30 to 11:00. This session is a crucial opportunity for teams to fine-tune their vehicles to the unique conditions of Madeira's roads. The Shakedown will be supported by a dedicated service park at the Parque Desportivo de Água de Pena, located beneath the airport.

The Shakedown not only provides the teams with a chance to make last-minute adjustments, but also allows spectators to witness the cars and drivers in action. The excitement is palpable, as fans gather to see their favorite drivers and vehicles up close.

A Local and Tourist Attraction

Despite the timing of the checks during working hours, many enthusiasts have taken the opportunity to observe the preparations. The Rally da Madeira is a significant event in the region, drawing spectators who are eager to experience the thrill of the competition and the beauty of Madeira's landscapes.

The event's opening has already seen full capacity attendance, with fans and tourists eager to witness the start of this historic rally. Organized by the Club Sports da Madeira since 1959, the rally is an integral part of Madeira's cultural and sporting calendar.

With the stage set for an exciting competition, the Rally da Madeira 2026 promises to deliver exhilarating action and unforgettable moments for all involved.
