PSD Voices Concerns Over Water Supply and Urban Management in São Vicente

During a recent municipal assembly in São Vicente, Madeira, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) voiced serious concerns regarding several critical issues affecting the local community. The assembly, held on Monday, focused on the persistent challenges related to water supply, urban cleanliness, and overall municipal management.

Elisabete Silva, a municipal deputy from the PSD, highlighted the ongoing problem of inadequate potable water supply in various areas of São Vicente. She mentioned instances where residents receive water with sediment, raising health and safety concerns. Silva questioned whether the municipal executive is considering handing over the water supply management to Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM), a regional water management entity.

In addition to water issues, Silva pointed out the deterioration of urban cleanliness, with significant lapses in waste collection and maintenance of roads, pathways, and the local urban park. She emphasized the need for the local government to provide clear and effective solutions to these growing problems.

Another PSD deputy, Jhenny Figueira, criticized the current parking management in São Vicente, questioning the fulfillment of electoral promises to create additional parking spaces. Figueira also raised concerns about the safety of school transportation, citing an incident involving an unqualified driver. She described this situation as unacceptable and demanded immediate corrective measures.

Figueira further criticized the cancellation of a planned leisure program by ADENORMA, attributing it to inadequate municipal support, and expressed dissatisfaction over high expenditures on local festivities and increased legal fees. Despite these criticisms, she acknowledged the solidarity shown by the municipal council and the local parish in supporting victims of a recent tragedy in Venezuela.
