The PSD has unanimously approved a responsible intervention plan for Machico Stream, focusing on safety, prevention, and environmental enhancement, to be executed post-tourist season.

The Portuguese Social Democratic Party (PSD) has unanimously approved a proposal for a comprehensive intervention in Machico Stream, a vital waterway in Madeira. This plan aims to address safety and environmental concerns, enhancing the stream's structural integrity and aesthetic value.

The intervention, described as 'integrated and responsible,' will focus on prevention, maintenance, structural reinforcement, and environmental enhancement of the stream. The initiative is set to be implemented outside the peak tourist season to minimize disruption.

Investment and Planning

The proposal includes a pilot project for the Machico Stream corridor, with an estimated cost of €100,000 for preliminary studies and over €1 million for the full implementation of the project. The project highlights the PSD's commitment to sustainable and strategic infrastructure improvements in Madeira.

Local and Tourist Impact

Machico, a town known for its historical and natural significance, will benefit from the improved safety and environmental conditions. This intervention is crucial not only for the local community but also for the tourists who visit the island, ensuring a safer and more pleasant experience.

This intervention showcases our dedication to preserving Madeira’s natural beauty while ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors.

— Andreia Correia, PSD Representative

The PSD's decision reflects a proactive approach to addressing potential risks associated with the stream, aiming to prevent future environmental and structural issues. By conducting the intervention outside the tourist season, the plan seeks to balance ecological concerns with economic impacts.
