PS-M seeks formal state guarantee for new hospital funding
Madeira GuidePS-M calls for a formal state guarantee to fund half of the new phase at Madeira's central and university hospital.
PS-M expressed concern about the lack of formal guarantees from the Government of the Republic for 50% financing of the new phase of construction and equipment at the Hospital Central e Universitário da Madeira.
PS-M president CĂ©lia Pessegueiro said the process is moving forward without a binding legal and financial commitment from the State. She said the Republic's share in earlier phases was secured through Resolutions of the Council of Ministers covering construction and equipment costs.
A new public tender for the works is under way, and the deadline for bids ends this month. PS-M criticised the Regional Government's handling of the matter and asked what steps are being taken with LuĂs Montenegro's government to formally provide for the national contribution.
The party again called for full disclosure of the documents supporting the projected cost increase for the third phase, including the quantities map and technical documentation. PS-M said the hospital's financing should not depend on informal promises.

PS-M said the hospital works are currently stalled. It called for the Republic's contribution to be set out in a contractual and legal commitment in both the State Budget and the Regional Budget.
