PS Demands Government Clarification on Pousada dos Vinháticos Delay

The Socialist Party (PS) has called upon the Madeira Regional Government to provide explanations about the current status of the Pousada dos Vinháticos, a once-renowned establishment located in Serra de Água, Ribeira Brava. The site has been sitting idle for four years despite plans to convert it into a hotel.

In January 2022, a public auction was held to lease the infrastructure, with the winning bid set at a base value of 3,000 euros per month. The lease was supposed to initiate a transformation of the facility into a 40-room hotel, named 'Hotel dos Vinháticos', with a concession period of 20 years. However, the project has not progressed as expected.

Deputy Victor Freitas of PS emphasized the importance of the building, describing it as a regional public heritage. He has criticized the government's lack of transparency and progress, questioning why there has been no visible development or refurbishment work on the site.
