The Câmara Municipal da Ponta do Sol is conducting the new PSP station project with transparency and responsibility, updating costs to reflect construction price changes.

The Câmara Municipal da Ponta do Sol claims the process for constructing the new PSP station is being conducted with transparency, rigor, and responsibility. The initial tender launched by the previous municipal executive received no proposals, prompting the current administration to update project values due to evolving construction costs.

The updated base price for the construction is set at 3,777,405.40 euros plus VAT, with an additional 140,160 euros plus VAT for supervision and safety coordination services. The maximum foreseeable cost for the project is estimated at 4,301,709.27 euros plus VAT.

The municipality has communicated the need for these budget updates to the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Internal Administration and is working with the Government of the Republic to ensure the necessary financial framework.

The current executive has rejected any claims of lack of transparency in the process.

Update — 2026-09-05

The cost of the new PSP station is now described as nearly €4.5 million, about double the amount initially envisaged three years ago. The update is attributed to changes to the original project, and the funding was revised to enable the launch of a new public tender.
