Pingo Doce has opened applications for the 6th edition of its Bairro Feliz initiative, a program that funds local community projects. Applications are open until July 13, inviting local groups to propose impactful projects.

Pingo Doce, a leading supermarket chain, has announced the launch of the 6th edition of its Bairro Feliz initiative, designed to support local communities across Madeira. This initiative encourages groups of residents and organizations to submit projects that can have a positive impact on their neighborhoods.

Applications for this year’s edition are open until July 13. Interested parties, which can include groups of at least five neighbors, associations, or non-profit organizations (IPSS), are invited to submit their project proposals. Each project stands a chance to receive funding up to €1,000, which is determined by a vote among local residents.

Bairro Feliz, translating to 'Happy Neighborhood,' aims to foster community spirit and enhance the quality of life in local areas by supporting projects that address specific needs or aspirations of the residents. This initiative not only strengthens community bonds but also empowers residents to actively participate in their community’s development.

The initiative is part of Pingo Doce’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on supporting local communities and promoting sustainable practices. By enabling residents to vote on the projects, Pingo Doce ensures that the funded initiatives are aligned with the community’s priorities.

Madeira, with its vibrant local culture and close-knit communities, provides an ideal setting for the Bairro Feliz initiative. The program’s success in previous years has encouraged continued participation and engagement from residents, making it a cornerstone of community development in the region.
