In a bid to streamline maritime services for residents and businesses in Madeira, a new service desk from the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM) has been inaugurated at the Citizen's Shop. This development follows a cooperation protocol signed on July 21, 2026, between the Regional Secretariat for Finance and the DGRM.
The agreement facilitates the installation and operation of DGRM services, providing a centralized contact point where citizens and companies can address various maritime-related issues. These include maritime administration, safety, certification and registration of vessels, and licensing of maritime activities.
The signing of the protocol was a significant event, attended by Vice-Admiral António Coelho Cândido, Director-General of DGRM, and Hélder Pestana, President of the Agency for Innovation and Modernization of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. This collaboration is part of a broader strategy to modernize administrative services and enhance accessibility to public services for Madeira's residents.
The Citizen's Shop, known locally as 'Loja do Cidadão,' serves as a hub where various public services are concentrated, making it easier for citizens to access the services they need. The new DGRM desk is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and accessibility of maritime services on the island.
