New Activity Centre for Empowerment and Inclusion in Porto Santo Set for 2027 Completion

The Regional Government of Madeira has announced the construction of a new Centre for Activities for Empowerment and Inclusion (CACI) in Porto Santo, which is expected to be completed by 2027. This initiative aims to strengthen social services for individuals with disabilities, promoting autonomy, skill development, and community inclusion.
The project was unveiled by Paula Margarido, the Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labour, and Youth, during her visit to the site located in the heart of Vila Baleira, adjacent to the Civic Centre. The new facility will replace the current operations housed in the Porto Santo Multiuse Pavilion and will significantly enhance the capacity and quality of services offered.
The CACI will expand its capacity from eight to 30 users, providing improved conditions for both the individuals served and their families. It will be constructed on a municipal plot of approximately 505 square meters, offering easy access to public services and spaces, thereby fostering greater community participation.
With an estimated investment of two million euros, the centre will feature a single-story structure designed for full accessibility. It will include three interconnected areas, multipurpose spaces, and utilize natural lighting and ventilation, in addition to having two independent entrances and a sustainably designed exterior area.
More than merely constructing a new facility, we are creating conditions to enhance the autonomy, empowerment, inclusion, and quality of life for people with disabilities, while also providing crucial support to their families. We aim for solutions that are increasingly tailored to people's needs and closer to them.
Porto Santo, known for its stunning beaches and tranquil environment, will benefit greatly from this development, as it aligns with the region's ongoing efforts to improve social infrastructure and inclusivity.
