A series of incidents over the weekend in Madeira has left several individuals injured, drawing attention to local safety concerns. Emergency services were dispatched to address traffic accidents and assaults across the region.

Madeira witnessed a series of unfortunate incidents over the weekend, resulting in injuries to several individuals in separate events. Emergency services were kept busy, responding to multiple calls across the island.

Accident on the Via Rápida

On May 7, a serious traffic accident occurred on the Via Rápida, one of Madeira's principal highways. The incident involved a collision between two vehicles, leading to the overturning of one car. A 34-year-old woman sustained cervical injuries and was promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses. She was subsequently transported to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further medical care.

Stabbing Incident in Funchal

In a separate incident earlier that evening, a 55-year-old man was stabbed in the gardens of Campo da Barca in Funchal. The altercation resulted in a facial laceration. Emergency services took the victim first to the Comando Regional da PSP before he was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Assault in the Zona Velha

Later that night, another assault transpired in Rua Dom Carlos I, located in Funchal's Zona Velha. A 58-year-old man was injured with a head wound during the attack. He received immediate medical assistance and was also taken to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.

Accident on Estrada da Eira do Serrado

On May 6, an accident involving two light vehicles occurred on Estrada da Eira do Serrado. A 28-year-old woman, traveling in the back seat, suffered a head injury when she collided with the seat in front of her. The Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal responded swiftly, ensuring she received necessary medical attention at the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.

These incidents highlight the importance of vigilance and safety measures for both residents and tourists in Madeira. The local emergency services continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
