Vehicle Fire in Quinta Grande

At 16:19, a van caught fire near the pharmacy in Quinta Grande. The fire was initially controlled by civilians using two extinguishers before the arrival of the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters. Nine firefighters and three vehicles were involved in ensuring the blaze was fully extinguished.

Residential Annex Fire in Ribeira Seca

Earlier in the day, at 15:23, the Machico Municipal Firefighters responded to a fire in a residential annex in Ribeira Seca. By the time the nine firefighters and their three vehicles arrived, the fire was already under control, highlighting the effectiveness of initial containment efforts.

Expressway Accident Near Funchal

In another incident at 13:54, the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters were called to an accident involving two vehicles on the expressway at Viveiros, heading towards Caniço. Two women in their 30s sustained minor injuries and were transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment.

These incidents underscore the importance of emergency preparedness and the swift response capabilities of Madeira's fire brigades. The quick actions by both civilians and emergency personnel helped prevent more severe outcomes.
