Accident on Via Rápida Injures Woman
On August 7, a traffic accident occurred in the tunnel of the Via Rápida, in the direction from Funchal to Caniço. The incident involved a 50-year-old woman who sustained injuries and complained of chest pain. Emergency services quickly responded, and she was transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment.
Car Overturns Near Aquaparque
Just a day earlier, on August 6, a car accident was reported near the Aquaparque in Santa Cruz. A vehicle overturned, resulting in a man sustaining hand injuries. The incident prompted a rapid response from the Santa Cruz Fire Brigade, who ensured the injured party received medical attention at the hospital.
Collision on Via Expresso
On August 5, two cars were involved in a rear-end collision on the Via Expresso between Ponta do Sol and Madalena do Mar. A woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for evaluation. The Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol Volunteer Firefighters were on the scene to manage the situation.
Fire Near Madeira Airport
In addition to road incidents, a fire broke out on August 5 near Madeira Airport, specifically in the Vereda do Seixo area. The Machico Municipal Fire Brigade responded promptly, deploying four firefighters to contain the blaze. Fortunately, the fire was controlled without further escalation.
