Madeira to apply IRS withholding cut in November
Madeira will apply the national IRS withholding cut in November while maintaining its 30% tax differential.
Miguel Albuquerque said Madeira will apply the IRS withholding-at-source cut up to the sixth bracket, announced by Prime Minister LuĂs Montenegro, in November salaries. He made the comments during a visit to works at Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. Ă‚ngelo Augusto da Silva.
Madeira will maintain its 30% tax differential. Albuquerque said the Region had already made a similar accommodation for IRS Jovem.
Albuquerque said tax collection in Madeira has been rising, contrary to what he had initially expected. He said lower taxes give people greater ability to pay and support economic dynamism.
Lower withholding at source may mean a smaller refund entitlement, or IRS to pay, when the annual income tax return is filed.
According to Funchal NotĂcias, the school is now structurally a new school. The works covered the exterior and interior of the school building and the gymnasium. They are the Region's third deep rehabilitation of basic and secondary school buildings in recent years, after Ribeira Brava and Porto Santo.
