Nuno Maciel, the Regional Secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries, emphasized the importance of Madeira's return to the event after a year's absence. The decision to skip the previous year was based on the assessment that conditions were not suitable to present Madeira's offerings in a "dignified" manner. This year, however, the representation has been meticulously prepared to ensure a strong institutional presence.
The fair, running until June 14th, is the largest agricultural event in Portugal and places a special emphasis on small fruits like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. These fruits are experiencing significant growth in demand due to their nutritional value and consumer popularity.
