Madeira Secures €500,000 to Offset Agricultural Production Costs

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has been allocated up to €500,000 to help counteract the increasing costs associated with agricultural production. This initiative, initially announced by the Portuguese Government, has now been formalized through a joint decree by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Sea.
The funding is part of a broader financial allocation for Portugal's autonomous regions, which includes up to €3 million for the Azores and €500,000 for Madeira. These funds are provided under the State Budget Law for 2026.
According to the decree, the support is temporary and exceptional, aimed at mitigating the impact of rising costs, particularly those related to fuel. The autonomous regions, including Madeira, will be responsible for defining and implementing the support measures, which must adhere to eligibility, control, and verification criteria outlined in the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 107/2026.
The financial transfers will be managed by the Treasury and Finance Entity, following the submission by the regions of the calculated amounts for the support payments. Once the beneficiary payments are completed, a financial execution report is required within 15 days.
