Madeira GuideThe Regional Government of Madeira announced that the payment of the Mobility Subsidy via CTT will continue until June 2027. This extension follows intense negotiations with the national government.
The Regional Government of Madeira has secured an extension for the payment of the Mobility Subsidy, now known as the Territorial Continuity Mechanism (MCT), through CTT until June 30, 2027. This decision follows extensive discussions between the Madeira Government and the national authorities in Portugal.
The Mobility Subsidy, essential for residents traveling between Madeira and the mainland, will continue to be processed by CTT's physical counters. This arrangement remains in place while the electronic platform for processing these payments is fully developed, as mandated by Law No. 23/2026.
The Secretary of Regional Tourism, Environment and Culture emphasized that this extension demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration between the regional and national governments. This cooperation involved key figures such as the Prime Minister LuĂs Montenegro and the Minister of State and Presidency, LeitĂŁo Amaro.
The announcement brings relief to both Madeira residents and visitors, ensuring continuity in travel affordability and accessibility. The ongoing logistical improvements aim to enhance the efficiency of the payment process, benefiting both locals and tourists.
