Madeira Island has emerged as a significant player in Portugal's luxury real estate market, concentrating 5.8% of the nation's luxury homes, with over 1,100 properties listed above one million euros.

In recent years, Madeira Island has gained prominence in Portugal's luxury real estate market. According to data from the real estate portal Idealista, as of August 1, 2026, Madeira accounts for 5.8% of the country's luxury homes available for sale. This places the region as the fifth largest market after Lisbon, Faro, Porto, and Setúbal.

The island's luxury real estate encompasses over 1,100 properties valued at more than one million euros. Notably, 90 of these properties are priced above three million euros, highlighting Madeira's growing appeal among affluent buyers.

This concentration of luxury homes reflects a broader trend in Portugal, where the luxury market is predominantly centered in a few key districts. Lisbon, Faro, and Porto collectively account for 80% of the nation's high-end real estate listings.

Madeira's unique offerings, including its stunning landscapes, mild climate, and rich cultural heritage, contribute to its allure as a prime location for luxury real estate investment. The island's appeal extends beyond its natural beauty, enticing international buyers seeking a blend of tranquility and exclusivity.

For residents and tourists alike, Madeira's robust luxury market underscores the region's economic vitality and attractiveness as a premium destination. As the island continues to develop its infrastructure and amenities, its position in the luxury real estate sector is expected to strengthen further.
