The Madeira Art & Craft Marathon is set to return on September 19, 2026, from 10 AM to 6 PM, at the IVBAM courtyard. This event will showcase local artisans and provide interactive workshops for visitors.

The Instituto do Vinho, do Bordado e do Artesanato da Madeira (IVBAM) is once again hosting the Art & Craft Marathon, a celebration of Madeira's rich artisanal heritage. Scheduled for September 19, 2026, the event will take place from 10 AM to 6 PM at the IVBAM courtyard on Rua 5 de Outubro.

Following a successful debut in 2025, this year’s edition promises an even more engaging experience with an informal, open-air setting. The marathon will feature live craft demonstrations, practical workshops, and an array of musical performances.

Visitors will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with artisans, learning about traditional techniques and processes. These hands-on workshops are designed to engage younger generations, offering them insights into the craftsmanship that defines Madeira's cultural identity.

The event aims to bolster the visibility of local crafts, ensuring the preservation of traditional skills and knowledge. The IVBAM's initiative plays a crucial role in maintaining the island's cultural heritage, making this an unmissable event for both locals and tourists.

Additionally, the Permanent Exhibition and Shop at the Madeira Traditional Arts and Crafts Space will be open to visitors, offering free access throughout the day. This provides a further avenue for exploring the depth of Madeira’s artisanal creativity.
