The first edition of the 'Portugal Nação Global' Forum is currently taking place at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon. This significant event, running from April 29 to 30, 2026, brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, and representatives from various Portuguese-speaking communities worldwide.
Madeira is notably represented at the forum, showcasing its dynamic involvement in global discussions. The island's presence includes a stand featuring Invest Madeira and the Centro Internacional de Negócios da Madeira, highlighting its business opportunities and international connections.
Bernardo de Vasconcelos and Isabel Gouveia, both distinguished researchers from Madeira, are actively participating in the forum. Isabel Gouveia, a doctoral candidate in Global Studies at Universidade Aberta, speaks highly of the opportunity to engage in discussions about Lusophony and its role in accelerating internationalization.
The forum also sees participation from Madeiran entrepreneurs and luso-descendants from regions such as South Africa, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and Jersey. Sancho Gomes, the regional director for Communities and External Cooperation, is present to emphasize Madeira's global ties.
