Rental prices in Madeira have surged by 12.3% in July compared to the same month last year, setting a new historical high. This rise is particularly evident in Funchal, with a 13.8% increase.

The Regional Autonomous Government of Madeira has reported a significant increase in rental prices, marking a 12.3% rise in July compared to the previous year. According to the Idealista price index, the median cost of renting a house in the region reached 16.1 euros per square meter, a new historical peak.

Funchal, the capital of Madeira, experienced an even sharper increase, with rental prices climbing by 13.8%. The median price per square meter in Funchal now stands at 17.3 euros. In contrast, Santa Cruz, another key area, has a median rental price of 12.2 euros per square meter.

This consistent upward trend in rental prices is a matter of concern for both locals and tourists. Madeira is a popular tourist destination, and the rising costs could affect the tourism industry by influencing accommodation expenses for visitors.

Madeira's increasing rental prices reflect broader economic trends impacting the region. As a sought-after destination, both for its natural beauty and cultural heritage, demand for housing continues to rise, contributing to the price surge.

Madeira maintains a consistent upward trajectory in rental prices as of July, reflecting broader economic trends.
