The Instituto de Segurança Social da Madeira (ISSM) is preparing to relaunch its parental support programs in October and November. These initiatives, which have gained international recognition for their evidence-based methodologies, aim to equip families with the necessary tools to tackle parenting challenges effectively.
The programs include 'Anos Incríveis', targeting parents of children aged 3 to 8 years, 'Mais Família, Mais Jovem', for guardians of teenagers aged 10 to 18, and 'Crianças no Meio do Conflito', which addresses children caught in conflicts. Each program is designed to support families through various stages of child and adolescent development.
According to Paula Margarido, the regional secretary for Inclusion, Labour, and Youth, investing in families is crucial for prevention. The programs provide parents with scientifically validated tools to support their children through the growing demands of parenting, especially in the digital age.
The initiative emphasizes promoting positive behavior through positive reinforcement, improving communication between parents and children, and encouraging cooperative co-parenting. These training sessions are free of charge, offering a space for support, sharing, and specialized guidance.
ISSM's commitment to preventive and community-oriented intervention highlights its dedication to strengthening family bonds, ensuring that parents have access to practical tools and expert support.
