Madeira has taken a significant step in enhancing support for its elderly population with the inauguration of the Santa Clara Social Complex. Scheduled to open on Monday, this new facility offers 115 additional spaces dedicated to elderly care, marking a substantial development in the region's social infrastructure.
The project, which represents an investment of €13.3 million, is funded by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve social facilities within Madeira, reflecting a commitment to providing comprehensive support to the island's aging residents.
Located in Funchal, the capital of Madeira, the Santa Clara Social Complex is owned by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Funchal, a long-standing charitable organization in the region. The facility will be officially inaugurated at 10 AM by Miguel Albuquerque, the President of Madeira's Regional Government.
This complex is considered one of the most ambitious social projects ever undertaken in Madeira. It aims not only to address the immediate needs of elderly residents but also to set a benchmark for future developments in social care on the island.
The new spaces are expected to significantly alleviate the current demand for elderly care facilities in Madeira, providing much-needed support to families and enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens.
