From April 25 to 27, Madeira will host the prestigious XXVI Grande Capítulo of the Enogastronomic Brotherhood, attracting gastronomes from across Europe.

Madeira, renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, is set to host the XXVI Grande Capítulo of the Confraria Enogastronómica da Madeira from April 25 to 27. This esteemed event will bring together members from various European gastronomic brotherhoods, as well as local enthusiasts, for a series of culinary and cultural engagements.

The event, organized by the Confraria Enogastronómica da Madeira, will see participation from 23 confrades representing Belgium, Spain, France, and Switzerland, alongside 29 confrades from 13 national brotherhoods in Portugal. Additionally, 34 members from the host confraternity will participate, accompanied by their guests.

The program includes a variety of activities designed to showcase Madeira’s unique culinary offerings and cultural landmarks. On April 25, the festivities will kick off with a Madeira de Honra at the Câmara Municipal de Câmara de Lobos, followed by a Welcome Dinner at the renowned Restaurante O Lagar.

April 26 will feature a Mass at the Igreja de São João Evangelista, also known as the Igreja do Colégio, and a formal reception at the Gare Marítima do Porto do Funchal. The day will also include a procession of brotherhoods from Rua de Artur de Sousa “Pinga” to the Forte de São Tiago, culminating in a lunch at the Forte's restaurant.

The closing day, April 27, will begin with another Madeira de Honra, this time at the Câmara Municipal do Porto Moniz, followed by a traditional 'Panelo' lunch at Chão da Ribeira, a local culinary tradition involving a communal stew cooked in large pots.

The Grande Capítulo event not only celebrates the culinary arts but also strengthens cultural ties and promotes Madeira as a gastronomic destination of choice. For both locals and tourists, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience the island's culinary diversity and cultural richness.
