The Regional Government of Madeira has approved a significant investment of €450,000 aimed at the rehabilitation and modernization of the Porto Santo Cultural and Congress Center. This decision was finalized during a council meeting held on Thursday. The project is part of the government's broader strategy to improve public infrastructures across the island.
The investment, detailed in the PIDDAR Project No. 53316, is set to be executed through a contract-program between the Regional Secretariat of Equipment and Infrastructure (SREI) and the Porto Santo Development Society (SDPS). The project will be financed over two fiscal years, with €200,000 allocated for 2026 and the remaining €250,000 for 2027.
This initiative not only aims to preserve the historical and cultural significance of the center but also ensures enhanced safety and usability for visitors. The contract-program will be effective immediately upon signing and will remain in force until December 31, 2027, allowing for obligations to extend beyond this date if necessary.
The Porto Santo Cultural and Congress Center is a vital facility for hosting various cultural and congress events, contributing significantly to the local economy and tourism sector.
