Madeira Beekeepers Urged to Declare Stock by September 30
Madeira's beekeepers must submit their annual stock declaration to comply with regional agricultural regulations by the end of September.
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries has announced that beekeepers in Madeira with registered activities are required to submit their Annual Stock Declaration between September 1 and September 30, 2026. This initiative is part of the efforts by the Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development to maintain accurate records of beekeeping activities on the island.
To facilitate this process, beekeepers can declare their stock either by visiting the Division of Experimentation and Agronomic Improvement (DEMA) located at Quebradas de Baixo, No. 63, in São Martinho, or by contacting the office via telephone at 291 145 458.
This annual declaration is crucial for ensuring the sustainability and regulation of apiculture on the island, which is an important aspect of Madeira's agricultural landscape. It allows the regional authorities to monitor bee populations and manage resources effectively.
Beekeeping in Madeira is not only vital for honey production but also plays a significant role in the pollination of the island's diverse flora. As such, maintaining accurate records helps in supporting the ecological balance and boosting agricultural productivity.
