In recognition of her extraordinary achievements, Madalena Costa is set to have the Santa Cruz pavilion named in her honor. The young athlete's global success and inspirational journey have prompted this significant tribute.

The Regional Government of Madeira is considering a proposal to name the pavilion of the Escola Básica e Secundária de Santa Cruz after Madalena Costa, a celebrated young athlete from the region. This proposal, brought forth by the Juntos pelo Povo (JPP) party, is set to be discussed and voted on this week by the Legislative Assembly of Madeira.

Madalena Costa has become a symbol of excellence and inspiration, not only for the people of Madeira but also on a global scale. At the age of 17, she achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the Senior World Champion in Beijing, making her the youngest and the first Portuguese athlete to attain such a prestigious title. Her accomplishments have not only put Madeira on the map for sports but have also inspired countless young athletes across the country.

The initiative to rename the pavilion is seen as a fitting tribute to her hard work, dedication, and the pride she brings to her hometown. Patrícia Spínola, representing JPP, emphasized that Madalena's journey is one of overcoming challenges and achieving greatness, which deserves to be recognized and celebrated in a meaningful manner.

Named after Madalena, the pavilion is expected to serve as a constant reminder of what can be achieved with perseverance and talent. It is intended to inspire future generations of athletes from Madeira to aspire to similar heights. The final decision on this proposal will be a significant moment, reflecting the community's support and pride in their local champion.
