The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries, through the Institute of Wine, Embroidery, and Handicrafts of Madeira (IVBAM), awarded professional certificates to 45 individuals this Tuesday. These graduates successfully completed courses in Madeira Embroidery, Viticulture Technology, and Craftsman of Arts and Crafts in Wood – Inlay Carpenter.
The training programs were part of a collaborative effort between IVBAM and Competir - Formação Profissional, supported by the European Social Fund under the Madeira 2030 initiative, which is set to continue until 2027. This initiative aims to enhance local skills and promote traditional industries on the island.
Madeira Embroidery, a renowned craft on the island, has a rich history and is celebrated for its intricate designs and quality. The Viticulture Technology course equips participants with the knowledge to support the island’s wine industry, known for its unique Madeira wine. Meanwhile, the Craftsman course focuses on traditional woodworking techniques, essential for preserving local craftsmanship.
This certification ceremony highlights Madeira's commitment to preserving and advancing its cultural heritage while equipping residents with skills that boost the local economy.
