ISAL Hosts 19th Edition of Blessing and Ribbon Burning Ceremony

The Institute of Administration and Languages (ISAL) in Madeira is set to host the 19th edition of its traditional Blessing and Ribbon Burning Ceremony this Saturday, June 20. This event marks a significant milestone for final-year students from the Bachelor of Business Management and Tourism programs.
The ceremony will begin at 1:30 PM at the iconic Igreja do Colégio, also known as the Church of St. John the Evangelist, located in the heart of Funchal. This revered location is a popular site for many cultural and religious events in Madeira.
The event is organized by the ISAL Finalists' Committee and will feature the participation of students, their course patrons—Dr. Cláudia Afonso for Business Management and Dr. Pedro Nunes for Tourism—and will include traditional rituals associated with the Blessing and Ribbon Burning Ceremony.
Participants, including the faculty, non-faculty staff, and families of the students, will gather at ISAL's premises at 12:45 PM. They will then proceed in a procession towards the church, symbolizing the students' journey and achievements.
The religious service will be conducted by Father Carlos Almada, running from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Following the service, speeches will be made by the president of the Finalists' Committee, course representatives, course patrons, and ISAL's management and official entities.
The ISAL Finalists' Committee extends an invitation to the entire community to partake in this significant event, celebrating the students' academic accomplishments and the culmination of their studies.
