These visits aim to assess the conditions and operational readiness of the police forces tasked with maintaining public safety in Madeira.
However, the visit is marked by the notable absence of Paulo Barreto, the Representative of the Republic for the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Initially, there was some confusion regarding his attendance, as incorrect information was circulated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs suggesting his participation. This was later clarified by Barreto's office, confirming that he would not be present.
Following the morning visits, Minister Neves is scheduled to meet with Miguel Albuquerque, the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, over lunch at the historic Quinta da Vigia. This meeting is expected to cover a range of topics, including regional security and collaboration between national and local authorities.
