Inquiry Commission Recommends ISAL Report Submission to Public Prosecutor

The Legislative Assembly of Madeira has received a significant development concerning the Instituto Superior de Administração e Línguas (ISAL) after its recent accreditation loss. An inquiry commission, set up in 2025, has proposed that the findings of its investigation be sent to the Public Prosecutor. This recommendation comes in the wake of ISAL's closure, which affected 160 enrolled students.

Valter Correia, the head of the commission, presented the report which was the result of a comprehensive investigation. The inquiry was established as a direct response to the loss of accreditation by the Agência de Acreditação e Avaliação do Ensino Superior (A3ES), a move that led to the unfortunate shutdown of the institution.

The commission's work involved hearing from 14 different entities and personalities, aiming to understand the circumstances that led to the accreditation issue. The decision to forward the report to the Public Prosecutor indicates serious concerns over potential irregularities or violations that may require legal scrutiny.
