In a series of incidents that have brought emergency services to the forefront in Funchal, Madeira, local authorities were called to two separate events involving an assault and a motorcycle accident.

Assault Incident in Santo António

On August 16, 2026, a man in his 30s was assaulted by a couple on Rua do Pico das Romeiras in Santo António. The victim sustained a hematoma to his eye and a wound on his hand. Emergency services, including the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal, were dispatched, and the man was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Motorcycle Accidents Raise Concerns

In separate incidents on the same day, emergency services were also called to address motorcycle accidents. At 12:40 AM, a 36-year-old man was involved in a crash on Estrada dos Marmeleiros, suffering from back pain and facial injuries.

Earlier, on August 13, 2026, another motorcyclist lost control at a roundabout in Nazaré, resulting in a shoulder dislocation. The 54-year-old victim was also transported to the hospital.
