The Agrupamento Mensal dos Militares Madeirenses que Serviram no Ultramar (AMMMSU), a group that gathers Madeiran veterans who served overseas, is preparing to mark its 100th gathering in a ceremonial event scheduled for August 2nd. The event will take place at the Igreja Paroquial do EspĂrito Santo in Calheta, a picturesque parish known for its cultural heritage and vibrant community life.
The program will commence at 11:00 AM with a Community Mass, a traditional gathering that reflects the deep-rooted faith among the local community. Following the Mass, at 11:45 AM, there will be a heartfelt tribute to the Madeiran soldiers who have passed away. This tribute will honor those who died during the Colonial War, as well as those who have passed since returning home.
A significant part of the ceremony includes the blessing and laying of a floral wreath, symbolizing remembrance and respect for the departed. The event will culminate with the singing of the AMMMSU anthem, a powerful moment that binds the community together in memory and honor.
