The national competition for access to higher education in Portugal has officially commenced today, providing more than 56,000 slots for prospective students. This marks an increase from last year's offerings, reflecting a growing opportunity for higher education aspirants.
The application process will be conducted online through the website of the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), with the first phase running until August 6. Results of this phase are scheduled to be released on August 23.
This year, Portuguese universities and polytechnic institutes have expanded their capacity, offering a total of 56,790 slots for general access. An additional 21,493 slots are available through special regimes and competitions, totaling 78,283 opportunities for the upcoming academic year.
Students have been eagerly awaiting this announcement, especially following delays in the release of national exam scores. These delays had caused some uncertainty, but students are now expected to have received their results, enabling them to proceed with their applications.
