The Forestry and Nature Conservation Institute (IFCN) has extended the high fire risk alert for the Madeira archipelago until Tuesday, July 7. This decision follows the continuation of a hot weather advisory issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
IPMA has forecast that the weather conditions in Madeira will remain relatively stable, yet the persistent heat wave poses a significant risk for forest fires. As a precaution, the IFCN has maintained the alert to mitigate potential fire hazards.
In addition to the fire risk, IPMA has also issued a warning for extreme ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels expected on Monday and Tuesday. Visitors and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the intense sun exposure.
