ENLU 2026 in Guimarães is focusing on urban cleaning work that often goes unnoticed.

The 8th National Urban Cleaning Meeting, ENLU 2026, began yesterday in Guimarães and ends tomorrow, 10 September. Funchal City Council is taking part.

Funchal is sharing its experience in urban cleaning and presenting practices developed by the municipality. Its intervention also addresses daily challenges faced by municipal services and solutions to reinforce operational efficiency through service organisation and responsiveness to the municipality's needs.

This year's theme is "O Serviço Invisível". The theme aims to give visibility to work that often goes unnoticed when spaces are clean and streets are ready to receive residents, workers and visitors.

The council said the event provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with other municipalities and follow new approaches and solutions for urban cleaning. The meeting is described as a reference event on the national agenda linked to environment and urban sustainability.

Update — 2026-09-10

The municipality said its participation reinforces its commitment to continuously improving municipal services and building a cleaner, better-maintained and more sustainable city.
